Charlie is an ex Sale Sharks, Saracens and international rugby player. Over his 17 year career, he won the Guinness Premiership while at Sale Sharks as well as multiple Domestic and European premiership titles with his last club Saracens, played for England 38 times and went on the 2005 Lions tour to New Zealand. He is the leading Premiership points scorer of all time. Sale’s ex chief executive, Mick Hogan, stated, ‘Without a doubt, he will be considered one of the greatest players to ever play for Sale Sharks’.
Charlie has taken what he learnt at the top of elite sport and what it takes to succeed, both individually and as a team. He now applies this experience and its principles to help business owners, leaders and teams develop and sustain their own levels of high performance when experiencing pressure.
Charlie experienced many ups and downs in his rugby career. Whether it was personal pressure, expectations, making decisions under pressure or a missed kick at goal, the daily struggle was real, and at times, hugely debilitating. Those emotional difficulties are no different to what people undoubtedly experience every day; deadlines, sales targets, workplace politics, crucial decision making, simply finding time for themselves and their family, or the dreaded feeling of imposter syndrome… the pressure to consistently perform can be lonely and impact across many areas of life. He understands how hard that is but recognises that the key to success was because he learned to trust himself, he was honest about his blind spots and focused on what he could control.
Charlie holds the Institute of Leadership and Management Level 7 in Executive Coaching and Mentoring. He has completed a training series in Organisation and Relationship Systems Coaching (ORSC), and is an accredited Firstbeat Service Provider. He now runs his own Resilience Coaching Program.
Charlie is married to Daisy and together they have 5 children. He is a patron of Regain Sports Charity.”
